Tape Backups
« on: November 16, 2005, 08:47:23 PM »
Greetings,

I have installed SME 6.0.x and have really enjoyed it. My question is that the manual states that the following tape drives have been tested and work on this system:

Seagate STT20000A
Seagate STT32000A

Have any of you installed and tested any other drives for this platform?? I need a tape drive that supports more then the 20GB that these 2 do. I prefer an IDE tape drive.

Thanks in advance.

It's not an IDE tape, but I'm using a DLT7000 drive with Arkeia Lite backup software.  Once I read up on some of its terminology, it wasn't a problem to get it set up with a scheduled backup via the Java UI.

I got one of these :

FREECOM    TapeWare AIT 460i 40-104GB

Works with existing flexbackup or you can use the supplied Tapeware.

IDE and works straight out of the box. (I had a small issue with the system picking it up because of the CD ROM drive but I don't think that's typical)

1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
