Topic: Remote Connection to MySQL in SME Server

hello guys, i have a visual basic application that i want to connect to mysql database stored in sme server, all of my mysql parameters are correct but i still got a connection error. i logged in a windows machine using the account created in sme server and already have same workgroup with sme, is there a port or something that i need to configure in sme to allow my application to connect successfully? i need your ideas about this problem.

What type of connection error are you getting?

Check out the MYsql web site documents,

The most common error is the IP blocking or the port 3306 not being enabled.

i have now successfully connected my application! 5 globes from me    by the way, what would be the implication to sme server 6.01-01 if i will upgrade mysql 3.23.56 to mysql server 4.1 or 5.0? i just want to take advantage of the latest mysql server features.
