Topic: Symbolic links to 2nd disc.

i've set up a 2nd disc as per Michiel Blotwijk excellent how to
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/mblotwijk/HowToGuides/AddExtraHardDisk.htm
works perfectly from the command line, and can access all files from the another computer on the local network using explorer.
However when I try tp access any html via a web browser I get a 403 error and the log file shows

[error] [client 192.168.1.105] Symbolic link not allowed: /home/$.

I can't see anything wrong with ther ownership or permissions.
Anybody got any ideas.
PS be gentle with me I'm a newbie
