Having trouble connecting to MSN Broadband ADSL
« on: December 09, 2005, 05:00:51 PM »
I have SME 6.5 software loaded into my server, but I think I may be in over my head getting it connected to my ADSL connection. I have been browsing the internet for the last 2 days to try to find as much information as possible. I understand the use of IP's and subnet masks, but I am not sure if I have the right numbers in the right locations when configuring my server. Could someone please help me get my server configured for my ADSL service, or at least point me in the right direction to find the answer? I believe my connection is a static IP as I have checked it several times and the IP number has stayed the same from the WAN point of view.

That isn't an indication that you have a static IP. That only tells you that your IP hasn't changed recently.

You will know you have a static IP if your ISP told you your IP address, netmask and default gateway. If you have a username/password, you don't have a static IP address. If you use DHCP, you don't have a static IP address.

No, I don't remember such details. Is there a bug report reference you can refer me to? If not, as I asked before, please make a bug report, providing full details, including reference to the old forum thread.

Thanks.
