sme-fetchmail issue on V7beta8
« on: December 11, 2005, 04:34:47 PM »
I have just installed sme7beta8 and all updates. I have also installed sme-fetchmail.
I keep getting this email from Cron Daemon - only the number (eg 4883) changes:

fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 4883.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 4883.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 4883.
fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 4883.

(yep, that's right, 4 lines identical)

The emails are every 10 minues or so. I have email checking set for every 5 minutes.

Being rather new to Linux, I can only guess this means two instances of fetchmail are running. Is that so? If so, what should I do about it.

Emails are bing picked up from various POP and IMAP accounts OK. It's just that email from Cron Daemon that worries me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ah, well.....no one interested?
I still get this 4 line email every few minites from cron to admin.
>fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 3468.
>fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 3468.
>fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 3468.
>fetchmail: another foreground fetchmail is running at 3468.

I am using schirrm's sme-fetchmail to collect mail from 4 external email accounts. (3 x POP3 and 1 IMAP)

Any possible explanations?

I had the same problem using sme 6.0.1.  The problem started when I set the e-mails to be fetched at 5 min intervals.  I switched back to every 15 minutes and have not seen the messages since.

Thanks for the tip. I will try that.
I was using v6.5RC1 for months collecting mail every 5 minutes and no problems. It only started when I installed v7beta8.

Cheers
