Can't connect to server
« on: December 14, 2005, 11:36:36 PM »
Hi,

I have a MAC OSX.4 tiger.  I went to network to connect to the sme server 6.01 box but when I press connect it says

"This file server uses an incompatilbe version of the AFP protocol you cannot connect to it."

Why is this.  Did I do something wrong?

Please help

Thanks
Amy

Hi Amy ....

I can't answer your question precisely but ...

I've been working together with a (more technical) guy to connect a G5 (Tiger) workstation, a G4 Powerbook (Tiger), XP workstations and Linux Ubuntu workstations together on the same LAN ... and we got it all singing and dancing very nicely.  There were no issues apart from some authentication stuff but that was only for convenience; not an essential change.  This however was using SME 7beta8.

Sorry, but I can't comment on your 'AFP' message.

Best of luck ... Tom.

Amy,
try to use samba (TCP/IP windows networking) instead of AppleTalk. It works with MAC OS 10 nicely.
