during boot kernal panic kill init

installing sme 6.0.1 on new intel 3ghz ht cpu based server. dual maxtor 80gb hdd's. I choose to install with raid option and install goes well. when reboots I get a screen full of errors ending with this statement "kernal panic kill init" have done search on this in group but the two posts are the same and refer to raid card. please help. could ht cpu cause this ?

Sounds like a hardware problem.
It is too new for SME 6.0.1

are you saying that sma will not run on modern hardware?
what hardware is compatible with sme 6.0 and would 7.0 solve this issue or is it also limited to old hardware too?

update: i did install sme7.08 b and ran ok. must be some problem with 6.0.1 and esc 800m motherboard.

I too had 7.0.8 running on an older 40gb Maxtor. When I upgraded to an 80gb Maxtor, 7.0.8 hangs just as billmakr describes. I dropped back to 6.5 and everything is running fine on the 80gb.
