Dynamic DNS problems
« on: January 24, 2006, 04:48:29 PM »
I have just setup SME server 6.01 and wish to host a website on the server. I am having problems with Dynamic DNS.
I am using DynDNS as yi.org did not seem to work. I have registered a domain entered the username and password into the Dynamic DNS page during setup and the site worked fine. However I often turn off the server over night as I am developing a website and the fan is extremely noisy. When I turn the server back on I receive emails from DynDNS saying that my account has been block as I tried to update the DDNS record to the same IP address.

How do I stop this happening?

SME is connected to a ADSL modem/router which is capable of using dyndns should I use the routers to control dns?

Is there another Dymanic DNS host I can use or some other software which I could install to get around the problem?

Am I right in thinking that the IP address of the server can be sent to an email address each time it changes?

If so how it that done?
