6.01 box and php web content
« on: January 25, 2006, 09:04:04 PM »
Am I wrong in assuming that sme 6.01 will handle php named web data?  The resaon that I'm asking is that I'm trying to learn it, as I want to re-do a web site that the cycling club that I ride for owns and the guy who hosts the server that the site resides on is a php wizard.  He whipped up some sample code for me to work with / hack / learn / etc...  I figured that I could just dump it into a directory at my sme box ( /home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary/html/test for instance.. ) and then just fire up a web browser and go to...

http://mydomain/test

... and viola -  the php based site would appear on my screen.

It does not.   :-?

The only file in ../test is index.php, and there are a few other directories under it which contain supporting files (includes and stuff)

Am I missing something??  Isn't the web mail (horde) .php driven?  My web mail works fine.  Do I need to configure an ibay and set it to use dynamic content? (or whatever the setting is - I'm at work right now and can't get to my server-manager)

Confused...  lol!!

Thanks guys...

Yes. At least you need to do the latter.

dmac - that didn't work (already tried.. ;( )

Charlie - I'll try that and see what happens - although I do believe that I already did try it like that...

I'm kind of thinking that it could be a versioning thing...  ( but I'm really shooting in the dark 'cause I really don't know )  Maybe the stock version of php that ships with sme 6.01 (whatever version it is... ) can't interpret or read the sample code that my friend wrote for me ( assuming that he's using php v5 or whatever is current? )  Synatx change or something...?

... well - I'll go off and create an ibay - dynamic content and all -and have a go at it.

Thanks guys...

I'm 6.01 box running phpbb2.0 and I have no problems with it, the only other thing I have installed is phpmyadmin.

Is there a way to change the default page type to .php instead of .html?

:-? I'm thinking that there is something broken with my webserver ( what I have no idea because webmail works fine and I'm pretty sure that it is driven by both mysql & php... go figure ) because no matter what I do, I cannot get any .php files to display.  Frustrating...

Here is test / play data for the bike club using sample code that my friend provided for me ---> http://tiogavelo.com/test

... and here is the same content in an ibay on my box that has dynamic content allowed ---> http://cat2gerb.com

... I have a spare machine sitting here - I may quick slap together another 6.01 server and see if it works there...  in the meantime... I'm working in my friends bsd box at the first link, under the test directory... although I'd prefer to test  /develop on my own machine as it is local on my network and I can move files in and out of it much more quickly.  {sigh}
