Topic: outlook problem

hi all i am runing a sme 6.01 server with roaming profiles mail and web server and local file sharing and vpn acces. the users can log in at anny destop machine and do there work. or work at home. it al works fine with the domein controller.

only micro_oft outlouk is giving some problems. its teling te users that it can not find the .pst file on the lokal machine (C:\documents and setings\.......etc) but that file is runing from the server if i am correct. does anybody know the problem. the user profile seems to forget the outlook pst file or something. only two of the 12 desktop machines are giving this problem. the desktops are runing xp pro sp2. is this ms problem or something in the sever, i dont know where to start looking.

i am just working for 1 year with sme now and stil need to figure some things out. like profile setings and how to backup the user home dir's etc. the simpel basic things i have to seek out but one proble at the time

Assuming that each of your users has their own "Home" directory on SME server using H:\.

1) I would create a folder in H:\ called Outlook.
2) Make sure Outlook is NOT running.
3) Move the users .pst file from their computer to the above directory. (H:\Outlook)

4. Now start Outlook, it will say that it cannot locate the .pst file, just point it to  H:\Outlook.

Now when each user logs on they will be connected to their home directory and Outlook when started will find its .pst file.

This also makes it easy to back up each users .pst file etc
