Hi i have been running SME 6.01 for the past 18 months without any issue,s but lately the server started rebooting intermittently (H/W fault)
so i've just bought a compaq Proliant 1600 server from ebay for dead cheap
So last night i installed 6.01 on it fresh install
I then done a backup to desktop of my old machine, which created a 1.6 gig file.
I then ran the restore on the new server, which restored all my settings/ibays/users
Then i thought i want to upgrade the the 6.01 to the latest 7 pre, so i booted off the disk and rant he upgrade process which took about 20 mins in total.
rebooted the server once the upgrade had completed, i thought it was going to fail due to the heavy mods on 6.01, but everything seems to work apart from 2 failed services, PPTP and ATALK, which i dont use ATALK so that needs disabling anyway.
But now i am unable to access the new server manager, although i can putty to the server ??
anyone any idea's ??
I was going to go home tonight and just install a a clean copy of 7 and then just start again, but i have quite allot of users and dont want the hassle of recreating them all.
what other methods is there for me to just install version 7 and just restore the user accounts/email/permissions and ibays, i'm not bothered about the rest of the config as that should'nt take long.
i'm just unsure of what i need to do exactley.
can anyone give me any advise how to restore the users/email/ibays and all permissions, i'd just like to add that i'm not totally clued up on setting the user permissions for the Home drive and Profile ?
any help will be greatly appreciated
