I'm using Entourage with Mac OS X and I'm missing something when trying to access SME7pre1 (upgraded from 6-0-1) from outside the office (remotely). For sending I set up the account to send my mail via SSL, use port 465 and to authenicate with my user name and password.
Two things usually happens. I get an Entourage message about:
1) The server might be busy or connection failed or was dropped (timeout?)
2) Entourage doesn't use any of the security methods required (arent the methods used well established?)
3) sometimes I get a warning about a root certificate (With warnings should I continue) and the transfer to the mail server will begin and then quit resulting in one of the error messages above.
From within the office to the mail server (internal inferface) it works just fine with the same settings, or with the sets set to normal (No SSL, standard port, no special authenticaing). Same for normal settings outside remotely, but that is to be expected without turning out the SSMTP access.
My setup worked fine under SME6. I can do everything via the web based IMP interface. However, there are times I would like to use my mail client outside the office.
Obviously I'm missing a setting. Can someone advise, please. Any questions in case I'm overlooking something in my explaination?
Thanks in advance.
