Need to add router to Local Network???
« on: January 30, 2006, 05:10:16 PM »
I am going through the configuration of the router and attempting to add another scope to the local networks.  After being unable to add another network, I found that there is no router shown in the current local network.  I am unable to add the router IP or modify the current network configuration in order to add it.

I assume this gets addred to /home/e-smith/db/configuration but I am not sure where to do it or what the name needs to be.

After looking through the file, I see "GatewayIP=10.45.8.1" and I am able to reach the internet from the server, so I should be able to add the other network, but each time I attempt, I get the following message:
Operation status report
Error: router address is not accessible from local network. Did not add network.
(I am able to ping the router and attach to this network from my windows machine on the same subnet as the SME Server.)

Please provide any suggestions/ideas.

thank you,
Jeremy Miller

The server is attached directly to the current local network. It doesn't reach that network via a router, so there is not place to enter a router address.

In order to reach an additional local network, the server needs to send traffic through a router. That router must be on the local network. (There may be more than one router, but the first hop router must be on the local network). When you add an additional network, you must enter the first hop router address. You are entering something else.

My guess is that in your case "10.45.8.1" is the router address you need to enter.
