Topic: export variable save

i feel really stupid to ask this question ,
i have compiled pwlib openh323 and gnugk on the system
however when i run the "export PWLIBDIR" commands they only are available until i close that session.
How do i make them load and stay for all sessions.
what file can i put them into to load on boot as gnugk will not work without them.    

thanks for any help given this is really starting to get on my nerves

save the settings in to /etc.profile.d/e-smith.sh
