Topic: Accessing PC'S on my network remotely

I am looking for a simple solution so that I can access any of the 5 Windows XP computers on my sme sever network from a remote location for maintenance purposes mainly.  In other words is it possible to take control of a windows machine through my server and what do I need to do to make that happen.

Any ideas solutions would be very welcome.

Assuming all the PC's are XP Pro then just use Remote Desktop. You can forward the ports through the SME Server to the PC's

i.e forward port 3390 -> PC A Port 3389
                        3391 -> PC B Port 3389

and so on.

You can then access your LAN PC's remotely with the RDP client by using the url domain.com:3390 for PC A, domain.com:3391 for PC B etc or you can use IP address xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3391.

To make it even more secure you can always set up SSH tunnels and RDP via the tunnels.

.. or VPN into the SME box so that once logged in the internal network is exposed and you can RDP into any w/s as usual.

If you are not using XP Professional  try Tight VNC (http://www.tightvnc.com), but make sure that you are using SSH or  a VPN tunnel as it is not encrypted.  This is a nice alternative if your are using XP Home and do not want to use a third party site like logmein.com.
