Hello all,

Most of my workstations are using dhcp from sme.  When I scan the network and resolve hostnames from DNS, many come back with a hostname such as "pc-00003".  I read that there was a dhcp -> dns synchronizer for sme 6.  I also read that this may have been added to sme 7?

Can anyone clarify for me or point me in the right direction to add hostnames dynamically to local dns?

I am using sme 7, pre4.

I was looking for the same thing.
I ended up specifying the ip and using the hostnames option on the left menu to add the host name of the computer.  The only problem with that is any pc's that are not specified get the pc0003.local.com dns suffix.  If there is a why to make it so that sme gives out the correct computer name based on the windows xp computer name that woud be great to find out!

Wherever you read that was in error.

I don't know whether anyone has done work on that. I also don't know whether the 6.x contrib works on 7.0. There is a wiki page specifically to collect reports on which contribs work and which don't. I'd suggest you look there.

The DHCP to DNS synchroniser did work for my SME 7 pre4.

Is this still working for you?
Have you had any issues with it running on ver 7?
Have you upgraded to rc1 yet?
Thanks for any updates.

I am indeed at rc1 now and no problems yet.  Names still registered and resolving.
