Can the server get highjacked ?
« on: March 17, 2006, 02:57:46 AM »
When I try to go to my https://myserver/server-manager
to access as I did before, I notice that it attempts to download a pdf file from this site: www.flcmidatlantic.org

I was playing with www.yi.org setting trying to setup SME server to be accessable via internet

I'm sure I must have input the information incorrectly.

I've  deleted that host/domain from www.yi.org to try and correct the problem, but now when I try access my server-manager from ether local or via the web I get the same pdf download ? from www.flcmidatlantic.org

Now What ?

Any ideas?

Please advise :-o

Now What ?

Check the external IP address of the server and check what is at that IP address. Then check the IP address which is listed against that yi.org domain

And please don't assume a "hijack". If you have such a security concern, don't raise it in the forums - mail security_at_lists.contribs.org

But I suspect you have a dynamic DNS breakage of some form.

Thanks for the reply,
I do not assume anything at this point since I know nothing about SME,  however I was wondering if the server can be highjacked.Since  I know nothing really of security hence my title was more in the direction that I might not have set up any security or perhaps I've allowed complete access to my SME server without knowing really what I'm doing LOL
My problem is most likely something I have incorrectly setup in the www.yi.org

I put data in there really not knowing what I was doing, however it seems I should still have access to the SME manager locally, I may try to uplug the internet connection just to see if I can access the server locally, that may help me get some direction at least.

Thanks again for the help

Ok, so I could not figure out how to fix it, so I reloaded and all working perfect again locally.

I'm guesing it may not be anything I did with www.yi.org, but perhaps setting up the domain section to resolve DNS over the internet instead of resolve locally.

I'm really just not sure, but I'll do some more reading about that section before making changes there

Anyhow I guess I'll end this topic until then or any new info is added
