Topic: Multiple domains setup question

I need to setup a new installation of SME 7.0 RC1 and was wanting to use a bogus domain (mydomain.local) to be the primary domain and then add the three real domains as virtual domains.  Any pros / cons with this setup that anyone can see?

I run multiple virtual domains, but with a real domain name on the server. I don't think you should have a problem as long as you have a way to make sure that the virtual domains are pointed to your IP.

OK, I setup a test server with a primary domain of maindomain.local and three virtual domains, mydomain1.com, mydomain2.com, and mydomain3.com.

One thing I need help with, and I don't even know how to word it to do a search on the problem is this: I have a user who will have only one email address, user1@mydomain2.com, and no other email addresses.  I will have other users that will have emails addresses for all three virtual domains.  How do I accomplish this or can it be done?

  You can do with the the stock 7.0 code.  Take a look at the Pseudonyms panel where it says;

You can also create email aliases for accounts and (virtual) domains that are valid on this server. For example "fred@virtualdomain.com" can be forwarded to "mary" (or to another valid user account).

So, if you don't want a name to be used in all domains, make it obscure.  Don't make the domain name thomas... make it thomas2 if the user is a part of the second domain and then map tomas@domain2.com as needed.

Does that make sense.
