How do I create a bootable Floppy disk to install SME Server 7.0? I tried the "Creating a boot floppy" article, but the files are not on my CD. I did a CD Data check on another machine and it passed. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this feature removed? If so how do I install onto a none bootable CDrom device?

The feature is removed. The boot kernel had become too large for floppy.

Is there any other way to install it? On a non CDrom bootable system?

Try Smart Boot Manager .
Create the boot disk and then force your system to boot on the cd.

everything I do on this link simply reloads the start page.
can you supply this to me by any chance?
(as it is free I think this is an ok question - if it is not so please ignore it)

Thanks William - that let's me boot from the CD,
BUT a couple of questions into the install, I select 'sme server on CD',
it accesses the CD but says it does not find it !
(darned frustrating - its only a 2001 machine, Xeon 2GHz, but IBM so maybe a bit 'unusual'),
but thanks to you for your help, Sir

I'm sure I read another post here about the same thing. Can't remember the result.

Thought there was more...

Is the CD bootable on another machine ?

Has the machine in question ever booted from a CD?

YES the CD works on another machine, unsure of the second,
so I'll just change hardware - I think many people get caught up trying
to get poor hardware going - I'll use that unit for my old SCO server!

thanks again for your interest, William
(this all started out trying to get a tape to be added to my sme6,
so I'll make a new sme7, add users & ibays then cp across data)
