You have two update paths available:
1) Obtain the SMERC2 ISO, burn it to a CD, and upgrade from this CD.
2) Wait until the upgrade is made available with yum and upgrade from server-manager or CL.
In either cases, you will not loose any of your data.  No need to worry.

I will try with the ISO. I was just not sure, whether it would erase all data when upgrading that way.

And thank you very much for your quick reply  :-D

A good idea, the upgrade is "big" and may tax your system using yum...
When using the CD, ensure you select "upgrade""  - or all will be lost....  You will be offered the choice failrly early in the proceedings.  All the best.

When will the update be available through yum? When I do 'yum upgrade' it still can't find any packages to be upgraded. Is this correct?

That was why I made an ISO-upgrade. Because I could not upgrade via yum yet. But I don't know when it will be available.

For what its worth, I downloaded the ISO and upgraded from CD. It could not have been more smooth nor more simple.

A full and hearty round of applause to the Dev team for their fine efforts. Thanks team, your efforts are sincerely appreciated.

Same here.
Did a couple of remote servers "yum" update yesterday, followed by signal-event post-upgrade and reboot.  All went without problems.

Does the server-manager upgrade work properly
« Reply #10 on: May 07, 2006, 04:51:25 PM »
I've tried to upgrade with the server-manager option to upgrade, but nothing appears to happen it finds updates in the list, but I'm not sure it actually updated anything.

It said to wait ,then at the bottom finished or update successfull or something like that and the I restarted the server

I figured that was it, but when logging into the server-manger and doing a update again all the same files are found in the list, I tried this a few times but not sure what this really means, was update successful, or not, and what are the update items found in the list ?

I'm using  SME7.0 pre3 I believe

Please advise
Thanks
