Yum software update 7rc2 ???
« on: May 02, 2006, 04:36:34 PM »
Quoting gordonr in his 7rc2 notification

"Note: This release will also be made available for yum updates, but beware - the update is large due to the change to the CentOS 4.3 base."

Is this the reason that 7rc1 reports that software updates are available but on clicking "Install Available Updates" there is nothing available to install as yet? Just how large is large?

Please report all problems via the bug tracker - and only report them there please. Check for existing reports of your problem there first.

The problem is reported in the Bug Tracker:  Bug 1261

Based on this, I upgraded via the ISO download route.  It went very smoothly, no problems at all.

Ok its a bug and I should have looked there first. However its a fairly significant one I would say given that a misguided manual attempt to sort it could result in a complete system crash? Surely it deserves a notification in the main forum in its own right.

No. The whole point of having the bug tracker is so that there is one place to look for issues and one place to report them. Please help the development team by using the bug tracker.
