Hi,

I'm fairly new to SME, though been using linux for couple of years, must say, job well done, anyway

i've setup a user for pptpd access and everything looks ok server side, however when I log in from client, I get

May  3 23:15:55 smeserver pppd[22055]: rc_map2id: can't find tty /dev/ in map database
May  3 23:15:55 smeserver pppd[22055]: rc_get_ipaddr: couldn't resolve hostname: smeserver.blockwatch.co.za
May  3 23:15:55 smeserver pppd[22055]: rc_own_ipaddress: couldn't get own IP address
May  3 23:15:55 smeserver pppd[22055]: Peer testvpn failed CHAP authentication
May  3 23:15:55 smeserver pptpd[22054]: CTRL: Received PPTP Control Message (type: 15)
May  3 23:15:55 smeserver pptpd[22054]: CTRL: Got a SET LINK INFO packet with standard ACCMs
May  3 23:15:55 smeserver pppd[22055]: Connection terminated.

i've checked all my options.pptpd and everything looks ok, my vpn connections is set to 5 logins and the user is allowed, but it fails imediately

somehwere radius is not accepting my password

any advice or guidance would be apreciated

Thanks

Sew

This appears to be your first problem.  You might not have the client set up right.  Lets see if you have everything set up ok before you submit to the bug tracker.  Tell us:

What version of SME7?
Fresh install or upgrade?
Have you changed any of the config files?

What Client OS?
What is the error on the client side?

Im using  a fresh install of SME Server 7.0rc1
only looked a the config to see if U can see something wrong but everything looks perfect for me

I was trying with a windows XP client and also got a username invalid error

i'm still digging to see if I can find anything

Try looking at the protocols you have allowed in the XP VPN properties (Security tab - Advanced (custom seetings) - Settings) and ensure you only have Microsoft CHAP Version 2 checked.

Also ensure that under the Networking tab under Settings you have all three PPP settings checked.

Hope this helps. If you need anymore help then PM me and I can send you a HOW-TO I wrote for my colleagues.

vpn in RC1 does not work!  You are wasting your time.
It should be fixed in rc2...Update and try again.
