domain doubles?
« on: May 10, 2006, 04:03:44 PM »
hey, right now I can get to my nimagineca.com domain by typing www.wacomalt.com/nimagineca, but can I get to the primary ibay by typing www.nimagineca.com/wacomalt? or perhaps www.nimagineca.com/Primary?

nimagineca.com is a virtual domain is why I ask. is there anyway to do this?

do you have nimagineca.com pointing to the right ibay?
If you think you know whats going on, you obviously have no idea whats going on!

right now, nimagineca.com points to the Ibay "nimagineca" and wacomalt is the primary domain, and points to the "Primary" ibay.

so since I can see the nimagineca's ibay site, by going to www.wacomalt.com/nimagineca/ is there any way to see the primary ibay through www.nimagineca.com/Primary? or something?

sorry if this is confusing, its hard to explain.

I am going to venture a guess the answer is no. nimagineca and primary are ibays under wacomalt.com, but Primary has no connection to  www.nimagineca.com, unless you want to point it there in your domain settings.

The reason this works is because nimagineca is an ibay, and ANY ibay on your server that is web enabled, will have a URL like
www.wacomalt.com/ibayname

When you set up virtual domains you can point a domain name directly to an ibay, so accessing
www.nimagineca.com
will always and ONLY take you to the contents of the ibay associated with it ie nimagineca

Now if you want a subfolder URL like
www.nimagineca.com/wacomalt
then you will need to create the sub folder
/home/e-smith/files/ibays/nimagineca/html/wacomalt

Then you will need to put an index.htm file in that subfolder which redirects you to
www.wacomalt.com

I wonder why they blocked wacomalt...

You should ask your school why, not us.
Maybe they want you to do work, not play.

actually I did ask them (it was more of a rhetorical question)

aparently it is being reviewed. My school blocks sites for language, games, chat rooms (not message boards)  porn, and electronic commerce.

my site has none of this.  Granted the internet at school is for work, but so is the internet at colleges... and we all know how that works...

anyways, I think you all for the help, and as far as my school, it doesnt matter anyways.
