I use SME server outside work - its excellent, thanks.
But like many people, I would really like to integrate an SME7 server into my work network which is a mix of Windows 2K servers SuSE Linux servers and WinXP Pro and Win98 clients. My problem is the same as raised by many people here, that all client log-in user names are in the form "
firstname.lastname". ie with a "." dot / period in them. This makes it impossible for me to consider integrating SME server into the exsisting network.
However I notice Gordon Rowell's comments in post :
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=30117.0refering to "feature request" :
http://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=24 I've read this bug report and I think it might be trying to say that the current version SME7rc2 now allows log-in user names with "." periods and "-" dashes? But I'm not sure.
Can someone confirm whether this is now the case please?
Thanks, Gavin
