I’ve been running SME Server 7.0pre1 since it came out.

Its been working very well until last week. One day I noticed a lot of hard disk activity. After about 2 hours of this everything slowed down to a crawl.  At this point I’m not able to access the web or login to restart the SME server so I do a hardware reset.

I have phpBB2 installed. I noticed that after a hardware reset I was not able to access my phpBB2 database (mysql4.x).  I also noticed that the problem seem to go away.

There was a php script that I ran to fix the mysql table (fixtables.php). After the phpBB2 table was repaired the problem came back.

I updated my phpBB2 from 2.0.4 to 2.0.20, that did not fix the problem.

Any ideas as to what’s up???

I am wanting to update my SME Server to the latest version. I noticed that in the server-manager under the menu option “software installer” and a button named “install available updates”, Will this install the latest updates? When I try to use that option the list is blank, nothing shows up although it says that there are update available & that they should be installed.

I feel overwhelmed by all the different log files. Dose anyone of some php scripts that can help me to get a bottom line on my web server, keeping an eye on what’s important?
Also any links to help me to get up to speed would be appreciated.

The thread you quote is refering to RC1 > RC2 updates you are still on pre1 which dates from January of this year!

So many changes have taken place from pre1 > rc2 and considering your other problems, if I was in your shoes I would be tempted to backup your data and do a fresh install of RC2.

If you can't go this route I seem to recall you need to run a command before you start the update otherwise you system may not boot following the upgrade.
