I am not sure, thats way i ask..

When you want to run Raid 1 whit 2 x HDD. Same size and so one...

Both master.. But, but......

Do the both HDD have to be on the same cable (IDE1) and both master or shout it be on IDE 1 and IDE 2. But still master.....

They can't both be master and on the same cable. Each cable can only have one master and one slave.

Run them as master on seperate cables. That give the best performance and if one IDE channel should die it will still work.

master on 1Y, master on 2Y?
« Reply #6 on: June 04, 2006, 10:38:36 PM »
That was my question also. Even though it seems obvious (now) I thought it would be nice to see this made clear in the documentation. Guess that's something I could contirbute to in the future  ;-)

Fairly new to SMEserver and, though sceptical at first, now think it's a great product. I've yet to do a fully utilised installation since I've had one or two problems with installs. My 2nd disc does not appear to be included as a mirror - probably something I've done wrong:-( Install works fine on either disc as a single disc install:-?

Pls keep up the good work.

Have you tried to add the second disk in the admin console menu?

Not yet. Just trying the install to the paired discs again.

Thanks for the tip. May get chance to try tomorrow. Unfortunately I have to call it a day soon. Have to start work early tomorrow :-(.

Cheers,

Faulty Hard Drive was the problem. Thanks for other suggestion.
