so, where is "server manager" in 7.0 RC3?
« on: June 13, 2006, 07:09:55 PM »
Hi

Fresh install of 7.0 RC3 on a machine that was previously running 6.0 (Compaq EN SFF 6350).

Accessing the webpage http://yada.yada.yada/server-manager/
gives a "forbidden" error.

I'd search the doumentation but it doesn't appear to exist!

Any clues?

TIA

Pete

Its there alright on a fresh install without any contribs it works out of the box.

Have you added anything to your box, if not then you should be able to access via http://<your-ip-number>/server-manager

Have you filled in a Bug Report over @ http://bugs.contribs.org ? Please don't wait to be told this way you help us to help you/others - Thanks!

I get a 403 Forbidden.

I can't SSH in, but can ping the box.

As I said, this is a clean install.

The ONLY thing I can think of is that the DNS servers are set to the gateway instead of the ones provided by my ISP (didn't have the correct details to hand when installing).  Would this make any difference trying to access the server manager?

TIA

Pete

purpaboo,

Try https.  My guess is this will work for you:

https://yada.yada.yada/server-manager/

  I hope that's it.

Are you logging in from outside of your local network? You can only log into server-manager from your local network or from specific IP that you put into "Remote Management" section of server-manager.
If you are logging in from your local network, don't use WAN IP address, use LAN IP address of your server 192.168.1.1 or whatever you assigned to your server during installation.

purpaboo,

Try https.  My guess is this will work for you:

https://yada.yada.yada/server-manager/

  I hope that's it.
http should also work as there is a rewrite rule that automatically reroutes you to the secure (https) site.

Are you trying to access the server-manager from inside your local network or from outside?

Hi all.

Thanks for your helpful suggestions. It turns out that I was trying to access the server (192.168.1.x in DMZ) from a machine on my local network (192.168.0.x) and had not added the local network through the admin interface.

Thanks again.
