Doesn't the "911" backup do that in the Backup2 contrib?

Yes

Yes for those that are included in the backup.

No

The standard backup/restore concept in SME is that a backup to desktop, a backup to tape or a disaster recovery 911 backup using backup2. is restored ONLY to a clean installation of the server operating system.
After the restore is complete and the reconfiguration option ran & rebooted, then additional rpm packages are reinstalled manually.

The configuration data for these packages that were previously installed will have been be restored, so the full functionality of the packages will be there after reinstallation, without further configuration.
Any OS or package updates will also need to be reapplied.

If you want a full system backup of all data and everything installed and configured, you will need to clone the hard disk, or alternatively remove  one of the RAID1 drives. Search these forums as there have been many suggestions re how to do this.
