DHCP + netbios issues
« on: June 20, 2006, 03:11:08 PM »
When running a network scan it returns SME pc name "pc-00166.mydomain.com" instead of the PC's name (STLPC01)
I have SME7rc2 installed on a network as a domain controller and DHCP server.
PC's are set to DHCP.

When I run netscan.exe (or any network scanner) from a VPN connection or from the LAN I get :
pc-00166.mydomain.com
pc-00167.mydomain.com
pc-00168.mydomain.com

If the IP's are set to static I get the PC's name:
STLPC01
STLPC02
STLPC03

I would like to see the PC's correct name all the time, as users are trained to email me issues then I can remote in off hours find there PC, VNC to it and address the issues.  This is a problem on all the SME7 networks I'm running.

Thanks,
Rick
