Stephen asks about IMAP support, particularly because
students roam.
I'd like to see IMAP too, but on the local network you
can pretty much emulate IMAP by using samba to
store the mail config info and folders on the
server, instead of the local drive. How you do
this will depend on what mail program you are
using.
IMO, where IMAP will come into its own is when
organisations set up their own SSL protected
web mail systems - hopefully e-smith will get
one of those in good time. The people will be
able to access their mail folders wherever they
roam, inside and outside the office.
Let me know if you want advice about
configurating Netscape or Eudora.
