Topic: How To Install rdiff-backup on SME Server 7 ?

Hi all

I was looking to install rdiff on my sme-server ver 7.0

Anyone using rdiff on ver 7.0?

I saw some how to's for ver 6.5 only.

Or if anyone wants to share what they are using to back up their server with, I would be interseted in knowing that too.

Hi Clark,

I'm using rdiff-backup to backup my SME 7.0 server to a seperate Ubuntu server box. You can load rdiff-backup into the Ubunto box with apt-get  - it's part of the universe repository.

For SME Server you can find a rdiff-backup v 1.1.5 rpm here (you need el4 for SME server):

I followed this to the letter and it works very well.

I’ve been fighting tooth & nail to learn Linux & running a web server and be a mini system admin (run out of my house).

Hi Clark,

Glad to be of help. Just one more thing: to backup all the user data, emails etc, you need to back up /home/e-smith/files/* and to back up all your configurations you need to backup /etc/e-smith/db and the templates-customs  and templates-user-custom directories.
