Kickstart with no software raid
« on: August 13, 2006, 10:13:05 PM »
Hi,

Has anybody done a kickstart setup that disabled software raid?

I have an Intel srcs16 hardware raid controller running raid 5, and would like to disable software raid.

Alternatively, should I configure my three physical drives as three separate raid drives, and let the software raid manage this.

The reason for all this is that when I started copying files back to my new server, my source machine kept losing its connection to samba when big files were being copied, and I'm trying to eliminate possible suspects.

Both machines are Intel SE7320VP2 server board based in sr1400 chassis.

Extremely unlikely to be the software RAID layer, which essentially does nothing when there is only a single disk.

Ok, I just tested plain CentOS 4.3 on the same server, and the same thing happened. Time to try update the raid controller driver.
