I just ran in the latest batch of updates and needed to boot the server afterward for another reason. It now hangs trying to boot - the screen looks like:
root (hd0,0)
Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0fxd
kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp.img
[Linux-bzimage, setup=0x1400, size=0x15d564]
initrd /initrd-2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp.img
[Linux-initrd@0x1bed2000,0x10df18 bytes]
Uncompressing Linux... OK, booting the kernel.
At that point the machine just sits. I tried to 'upgrade' using a 7.0 cd, hoping I'd get whatever was messed up overwritten - no luck. I've got the system booted in rescue mode, but I don't know what to do next. Could someone pls. suggest next steps (I searched the forum w/o luck) - I'm more than a bit of a Linux noob. Thanks - john
