Topic: Review Configuration question

I've got everything up and running , except for port change for webserver (I'll get it eventually I hope).  Anyway I went to Review Configuration and there were MANY values that I'd like to tweak but I can't find them anywhere on Server Manager.

Main things I'd like to look at is changing names of some the servers and domain names.  The one in particular I'd like to actually change is the naming convention for email addresses.  I know this is probably a dumb question...but when I used Win2k Server as my domain controller you'd either log into local machine using username/pw from server or log into domain using same username/pw.  I'd like to have something similar if not the same to that but I don't know which name SME uses , if it's the useraccount or the user name.

Oh , been reading dev documentation of altering webmail.  Haven't seen anywhere if you can have people outside the LAN access the password manager page.  I'd like to have users on other networks access my email account, for the moment just to get experience with it.

These are all system defaults based on your choice of server name and domain name. You cannot change them as such, but you can change the server name or main domain name by logging in to the console as admin & selecting Configure this server, as you did when you first setup the sme server. I don't see anything wrong with your current Review Configuration settings, they are quite typical.

All email addresses are in the form username@domainname, they cannot be anything else, although other valid possibilities on the sme server are groupname@domainname and pseudonymname@domainname

The useraccount & user name are the same thing eg a user that you setup in server manager.
Where you have configured sme server to be a domain (or workstation) controller, you would logon to workstations that are part of the domain using the same user name, which is authenticated against the users in sme server.

They cannot either unless they are part of the local network. You can add their remote IP to the Remote Access panel, or they can VPN to your server and then they will be able to use

I suggest you look at (& install) the user manager contrib from dungog that allows limited access to a cut down server manager type panel (called user-manager), which includes a password changer function. You may still need to "allow" access for remote users though, as mentioned above.

or if you mean via POPS or IMAPS then use your mail server name of
mail.ultimazero.homeip.net
and enable ONLY secure access in the Email panel.

Screwed around, got my network and users and what not working and logging in correctly.  Finally deleted the domain settings from previous network (was affraid to , incase it would screw up my logging in ability) , of course my log in setup changed...

Set SME server to be workgroup and domain controller.  I am content for now with a workgroup, but I need the centralization and user/pw authentication (hope using correct  terminology and spelling ha) of a domain controller.  My problem though is I can't add my WinXP or other user's Win95 computer to the domain.  I read many other posts and still couldn't get mine to work.  I am at work but I believe the error was could not resolve dns server or something, forget.
