silentra sail questions
« on: August 24, 2006, 12:38:20 AM »
Hi,

Up to now I have been looking at integrating a freeware multi-tenant asterisk gui called PhoneCall as that seemed to best fit in with the multi-tenant nature of sme7 and unlike FreePBX (formerly AMP and used in trixbox) you can edit config files without breaking the gui. Having seen the other selintra postings, though, I am interested in what the Sail product has to offer as it a sme7 specific product. Rather than mail Selintra direct I thought it may be best to post here due to the forum interest already shown and in the hope that user selintra is able to answer.

Is  the Sail product  free whilst it is in development and presumably £249 for 1-20 license once its stable?  Is there a demo site? Is it mult-tenant (I'm guessing not at the moment) and if so how much would that cost

Thanks
Paul

Hello Paul

SAIL is free to anyone who wants to download it.  For our corporate customers we offer a support subscription (very similar to Redhat) which is charged on a per seat basis.

We have our own demo systems, as do our distributors and resellers (UK and Australia).  There is no "public" demo system but corporately, we often remotely bring prospective customers onto our demo rigs to demonstrate various aspects of the system. At any one time we will be running  5 or 6 such "extended" demos.

We call multi-tennant "clustering".  We have had the initial cluster support running for some time in development and the first useable out will be available in 2.1.14 which we will deliver into beta later this week.  Essentially it allows you to run partitioned or virtual pbx's under a single (or networked) asterisk image.  Each cluster can have access to its own VOIP accounts, extensions and ZAP lines.  2.1.14 clustering is by no means complete but we think it's OK for a first out. We've developed it in response to a strong demand in our market for a managed office type solution.

Hope this helps

Kind Regards

Selintra

Hi.

Thanks for clarifying. So the £249 on your website is not so much for the Sark software but for the 12 months support that goes with it.  Sounds fair enough to me. Is that the eventual plan and price for Sail support?

Anyway, having read your 126 page admin and installation guide tonight I can see this is a quality product. I'm quite suprised that in a year of following the asterisk-biz forum I've not come across your company before. Perhaps you need to promote yourself a bit more when people ask for asterisk gui's ;-)

I'll probably contact you off list to enquire about reseller details and whether it's possible to see a demo

Cheers
Paul
