What happened to my thread ?
« on: September 03, 2006, 11:37:15 PM »
I have a problem with my migration from sme6  to sme7 and have been getting some great help to work toward a resolution, to which I gave up at midnight.
But this morning I wake up and my forum thread has gone ?

I refresh the web browser where I left it and get..

"The topic or post you requested does not exist"

What has happened ??

If I was emailed about this,  some of the problem I was trying to resolve is I don't recieve email !!

Very confused this morning...

Someone or something has damaged the database which backs the forums. Your thread is not the only one missing. See also:

I've alerted staff at contribs.org via email.

It would appear that all new posts and existing posts for which content have been added over the past day  have vanished.

At 00:19 Sydney time, I received a notification of content added to the post of Groutley, and I made a reply at around 01:00 Sydney time. So the system was still OK.

At 03:15 Sydney time, I received a notification of content added to:
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=33551.msg143446#msg143446
suggesting that the system was still OK.  This post has now vanished.

I lost a post as well.  At first I thought I must be going nuts, and had only hallucinated that I made the post.    :-?

No it was in relation to http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=33582.msg143389#msg143389
The thread disappeared completly back then,  and much later in the day the thread re-appeared although much of the posts were and still are lost.

Obviously contribs.org had a hiccup, which caused some data loss, but is all back on track now.
