SME 7.0 Master Browser Election PROBLEM!!!!! HELP
« on: September 04, 2006, 02:40:51 AM »
Hi to all, I'm new here and I have a great problem with SME 7.0

I have a LAN with Windows 2000 Server SP4 configurated as PDC (AD)  with Exchange 2000, ISA 2000, DNS, DHCP and two years ago I have added a SME 6.0.1 to my domain without great problems.

Now I have install over it (NOT update) a SME 7.0 version but I have a great problem:

MASTER ELECTION (master bowser)

In other words, since 3 days (and I have changed nothing) random SME 7 try to elect itselve to master browser of the workgroup/domain and doing this, it destroies my Windows connection and ALL services that use it (exchange, ISA, DHCP, etc etc). To resolve this I have to deactive the Win2000's LAN and then active it.

I have just disabled, using Server-manager, the election in workgroup section, but it seems not working. I had the same problem using old SME 6 but after modifing the same option in "Advanced Workgroup" the problem disappeared.

Please could someone help me?? I don't want to delete SME server for something like, I would like to continue to test it!!! Please HELP HELP ME

Thanks to all

You could try reducing the os level in sme to give dominance to the Windows server (the opposite of what the above topic is talking about)

Why do people always threaten to get rid of sme because they think it's crappy based on some issue they can't quickly find an answer to.
I believe they prefer to blame the OS rather than blaming their lack of knowledge.
