I am having a big (to me) problem with SME 7.0
My current home server is running SME 6.5rc1 and doing a fine job. Hard ware is a Dell Poweredge SC420 that I picked up a year ago on one of there sales. I only made two modifications to it. I installed a after market NIC (Reltek) and a 200gb IDE hard drive to replace the 80gb SATA hard drive that came with it. SME 6.5rc1 did not recognize either the onboard NIC or the SATA drive.
The server is currently used in "Server Only" mode behind a Linksys BEFSX41 firewall/gateway that connects to my cable modem.
I disconnected the old hard drive (running SME 6.x), installed the new drive and booted the server. In the BIOS I disabled the old drive and enabled the new drive then installed SME 7.0 on it.
I configured SME 7.0 the same way that SME 6x was configured. Same names, IP's same everything but passwords. Old passwords were not strong, new ones are.
The new server can not "Connect to the Internet (contribs)" when tested (tested on both NIC's just to make sure that I was not messed up). But seemed to find the new updates that were available. I can browse into the Server-manager on the new server and configure it, so it is on my local net work. However it still insists that it can not connect to the Internet. My e-mail can not connect to the new server. Does not even challenge me for the password.
I am at a loss.
Any more information needed. Logfiles? Cluebats to be handed out to be used to hit me with?
Thanks
Ted
