I have run into the same thing in the past. Although with different RPM's. I have been able to resolve the problem by signalling a post-upgrade event. You can do this by running:
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
Try getting into esmith manager now, if you have no joy, try...
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot
after it.
This may or may not work in your instance, and may or may not be the correct course of action... ymmv, but it worked for me when I had problems trying to install Squirrel Mail.
