No external access to websites after upgrading
« on: September 24, 2006, 04:02:23 PM »
I upgraded my SME 6 to SME 7 using the "clean install + restore from HDD" method as I wanted to upgrade the installation and install a larger HDD.
The server/gateway works just fine.
All of the original iBays and their contents are there.
All port forwarding rules are intact.
Mailboxes are all intact.

What does not work is the ability to access the hosted websites from outside the LAN.

My web sites were all accessible from outside my LAN before I made the switch.

Dynamic DNS is working as the name resolves to the correct IP.
When I ping the domain or IP from an external address the requests time out, like the firewall is denying http access.

I am new to troubleshooting this sort of thing. What logs to do I need to be looking at and what clues might there be to how to fix this?
If this is a simple matter of allowing http access through the firewall how do I do that?

Try checking the "Public access..." settings of your ibays - perhaps the upgrade did not maintain the 6.x settings?

There was a very similar problem to yours posted only a couple of weeks ago. I think the resolution was to remove the old configuration database and use the new "clean" database

See
http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=33582.0

I'm not sure that the fix was the correct thing to do, but it does indicate that there was an inappropriate setting in the configuration database

Try
config show |more
and look through all the entries for something "not right".
