There's a thread running on the Experienced User forum which has listed a number of alternatives. One which looks as though it will genuinely work at the moment is Steltor's Corporate Time Server. With their Outlook Connector package this gives a back end that runs on Linux machines with any of several Windows clients interfacing by way of MAPI and OC.

You can also use Lotus Notes/Domino - the prices have come down a long way recently.

I your needs are limited, particularly for small workgroups, you might like to look at Lotus Organiser which doesn't need a back end. Simply store your diary files on the server and make them shareable. Anyone can call up anyone else's diary in a second. It works particularly well in Solicitors offices.

One other possibility is good old Schedule+ which was part of older MS Office packages. Schedule+ diary files are shareable and you can filter to get custom views for individual users, but this is only of use if you have no intention of going over to Windows 2000 or above. Microsoft have deliberately crippled it from running in those OSs cause they want you to buy Outlook and then you have to buy Exchange Server and then you.....

Graham,

Here's a couple of links to some other GroupWare that might serve your needs.

This one even has a specific SME RPM.
