Topic: UPS for SME server

I run two file servers. One uses sme 6 and the other sme7. I have a UPS for one of them. Most of the UPS units that I see have some software that works through windows to bring about an orderly shut down of the computer whe the poser goes off. Does anybody know if this would be of value for SME and/or is there a UPS on the market that offers Linux compatibility?
