SAIL and Linksys SPA-3000 problems
« on: October 16, 2006, 06:35:24 PM »
Hi All,

While I am on vacation in the UK I have installed a Linksys SPA-3000 on my mates SAIL/Asterisk server. I followe dthe instructions on the selintra.com/docs site and it didn't auto provision even though the tftp server is enabled  I then followed the manual setup and it now says that Line 1 and PSTN are registered. But if I dial the extension it goes directly to email and I don't have dial tone at the handset that is plugged into it  I have noticed that the staus light flashes a few times when it is first connected to the network and then it never comes on again :?  Also if I dial **** I don't get the IVR menu, unfortunatly I used netscan to find the IP address so I don't know if **** ever worked   As usual any help is appreciated

Regards,
Del

Hi All,

After checking the settings, which seemed all OK, then restarting the SPA-3000 I can now ring the extension but I still do not have dial tone at the SPA-3000  Can anyone suggest any thing? I only have until October 25th before I return home. This why I like the original Sipura stuff we still get in the US, I know that they are meant to be the same but I have never had a problem until I use the Linksys stuff  :(  Does it matter that the server is in server only mode? Thanks.

Regards,
Del

Hi Del

To provision the spa - turn the tftp server ON in SAIL.   Log into the spa;   to get **** to work from the phone you MUST have the FXO port disconnected - it won't work otherwise.  dial 115# and it will speak the ip address.

Log into the unit from your browser.  In the provisioning section; set "provision enable" to yes and set "Profile rule" to

nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/spa$MA.cfg

where nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the ip address of your SAIL server.

Redefine your trunk (as a gateway) and extension (spa3000) and your provisioning files will be created and stored on the tftp server.  The unit will then self-configure quite happily from SAIL (you may have to turn the server firewall off or create a pinhole for tftp - to be honest we usually run our internal servers with the firewalls down) and  you can find the correct settings for BT call progress and disconnect on the web.

However, as far as we know, disconnect detection on the spa3K WON'T work correctly with NTL or Telewest lines so if your mate has either of those then he's SOOL.

btw
