BT Voyager220 and remote access questions
« on: November 05, 2006, 03:59:00 PM »
Hi All,

While on a recent visit to the UK I helped my mate install SAIL on his SME Server v7.0 Because we wanted to set up in server/gateway mode he "acquired" a BT Voyager220v router/modem from his work, which consists of only 1 RJ45 port. We set this up using a laptop connected to it and it connected to the internet OK. In the set up under "virtual server" (the DMZ) we added his servers IP address (We chose dedicated connection with static IP in the SME configuration), setup dyndns.org in the router and connected the server, booted it up and tested the internet connection and everything was fine. Plugged the servers LAN NIC into a hub and the windows PC's all got on the internet and SAIL worked fine. However on arriving back in Florida I tried to use putty to connect and it wouldn't work  I can see his webpage url in firefox, he can send and receive email etc and the correct setting is entered in the server-manager remote access panel. Has anyone used this router, if so how did you configure it for access? THanks in advance.

Regards,
Del
