A user was in the process of renaming a folder, that was in the same folder as number of other folders. According to the user, suddenly a group of folders was highlighted, then deleted.

The user is running a windooze XP box. The folders are on a SME7.0 Final server.

The samba recycle bin is installed, but the folders did not go there.

Does anyone think there is a chance of retreiving them, and if so how? (no recent backup)

TIA

Bob

Bob,

Was this user in his personal directory or an ibay ? if it's an ibay and you have multiple users then depending on who deleted what first the user who then actually deleted folders/files my have been denied access.

And No Recent backup? maybe a lesson learnt here

He was in an ibay, and we can"t find them.
As far a backing stuff up, they have the way, just don't use it regularly.

Yep then it looks like a user deleted some files before the other user (whos files you want) deleted them therefore getting denied access to the recycle bin...

Have a look at this bug for more info on what i mean
