The boot take a while
« on: November 11, 2006, 03:07:44 PM »
Hi everybody,

I've just installed SME 7 on a new box :

Duron 1200
Asus A7A266
512 Mo
1xCaviar 320Go (I intend to add a new one to use RAID 1)

1 - The installation seemed quite long : it take a while when reading hda
2 - The boot is quite long and take a while at the same place.

I suppose that the big capacity disks are not well supported by the mainboard (Asus A7A266) but I'm not sure.

Could you help me please.

Thanx a lot in adavnce.

Does this happen everytime you boot or only after configuration changes or updates?

It happens at each boot even if no change or update have been proceeded.

because its a duron 1200 and a big harddrive this could take time when doing the quota checking.

At what stage during the booting up does it get slow?

I have 250GB hd's but running on a P4 3.2  which runs very fast.

The boot gets slow when printed at screen :

*********************************
hda <nb of sectors> sectors (320072MB) w/8192KiB cache <etc...>
 hda:
*********************************

and so when it's detecting RAID arrays
