Topic: what is the maximum amount of users i can create ??

I have my SME 7rc2 running in server only mode as my domain controller with roaming profiles enabled. My server is a Dell Optplex 170L, P4 2.4GZ with 1 GB DDR  mem and a 40 GB hdd. All users are only allocated 15 MB to thier profiles. I was wondering what would be my limit on creating users, because i have just reached over the 300 marker and now my server is giving me a lot of delay write fails. I replaced the memory and ran HDD regenorator on the disk to see if it has any errors but everything seems fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated

THOUSANDS. It used to be limited to around 2000 or so but that limitation has been removed as far as I know.  But you are nowhere near any kind of user limitation at 300.

You state the server is giving you this error.  Do you mean that the error is popping up on the client machines when trying to save/move files to the server?

Or do the server's message logs contain these errors?

it is giving me the error when the clients are trying to save thier profiles back to the server.I don't get any problems loading them its just when it comes time to save it back to the server, then i get the error.

Maybe 15MB is not enough to save their profiles !

The 15 meg limit might not be the problem, but it certainly isn't adequate!  The contents of a profile can be quite large, especially when .PST files are factored in.  Here's a link to the basics:

You'll also get better performance from a larger, faster hard drive.
