Need Help With Ibay / FTP setup
« on: December 04, 2006, 06:41:31 PM »
Hi,

I want to setup an Ibay in order to have FTP access for my users who will be using OpenVPN. I think I managed to setup the Ibay ok.. but I'm noticing that when one logs into the IBAY via a webbrowser or FTP.. it's not terribly user-friendly to find the Ibays. So... can I set  the startup directory to only go to the IBAY?

In case the above doesn't compute, here's what I want the user to experience when they login:

1) From a webbrowser, they type in ftp://user@host
2) They're prompted for a password. Enter in the password, and login.
3) The folder that they get to see is the "files" folder of the Ibay... nothing else.

I tested, and I had to hunt around for the IBAY folder.. if there is a better way to setup an FTP site on SME, hey, by all means. Also, remind me again... but I think I need to forward ports 20 and 21 to the SME server from my firewall no?

I'm still learning on Linux here.. so as thorough instructions as you can give, please do. Thanks.

Please advise.

Ok, so I answered my own question.. and feel kinda bad. Should have read the manual more closely... but I got it working now. Just need to get the access from outside to go, and we will be fine. Check out the following:

http://smeserver.sourceforge.net/sme70/manual#h82-1

See section 14.1.. it answers my questions exactly.
