DGE-528T Network Card Issue
« on: December 04, 2006, 08:24:25 PM »
Hi,

I am running SME 7.0 and I have just put in a gigabit network card "DLink DGE-528T"

The problem is that it is not supported by the kernel. Only kernel 2.6.10+.

The only kernel I can get from yum update is 2.6.10. The network is not loaded as the driver is not found. Looking on google it is said it is based on the R8169 drivers and i tried using that and assigning it through the su admin but i get the error.

"r8169 device eth1 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization."

There are no rpms availble from the dlink site for the drivers

I am guessing the only options is to upgrade my kernel or do something like this tutorial (which didn't work)

Any help with this would be really grateful. This is drivin me mad

Thanks
Adam

replace the card with one that is supported. they aren't that expensive to cause this much trouble.
