Fetchmail 1.3.4-10: reject mail to unknown users
« on: December 08, 2006, 04:41:43 PM »
I'm using Fetchmail version 1.3.4-10 written by Vincent FILALI and Pascal SCHIRRMANN.

In the general e-mail settings of the SME 7.0 I choosed, that mail to an unknown user has to be returned to the sender. The setting is not working. I still receive spam adressed to unknown users in the domain. Something like dskljncf@mydomain.de. Mydomain.de is the domain from my ISP/SMTP NOT the local domain of the SME 7.0.

Anybody any idea? Thx in advance for any help.

Stefan

It's because you're using FETCHMAIL.

FETCHMAIL is going to do just that, fetch the mail from your other account. It bypasses the checks.

okay, I understand this. Is there a way to implement or to change the system in a way, to get rid of this kind of spam?

All fetchmail should also be processed by spamassasin if you have it enabled, look for it under the e-mail section of your server-manager. Maybe also have a look at the LearnAsSpam script which can be found here in the forums when you do a search.
